     Gathering community input for a comprehensive health care reform package, U.S. Senator Ken Salazar (D-CO) spoke to a crowd of close to 25 at Melissa Memorial Hospital (MMH) in Holyoke Wednesday morning, Aug. 13.

    Citing recent rainfall in the South Fork of the Republican River drainage, Senator Greg Brophy (R-Wray) and Representative Cory Gardner (R-Yuma) today wrote to Department of Natural Resources Director Harris Sherman asking him to direct the State Engineer to start releasing water out of Bonny Reservoir.
     "These rainfalls are exactly what I predicted would happen during the discussion of what to do about the evaporative losses from Bonny during the session this year.  Now our area is faced with pumping more and more water out of our aquifer to repay those evaporative losses.  We just can't do that.  If we can't renegotiate the compact, we have to let that water out," Brophy said.
