Alberta Colglazier, 96, died Aug. 9, 2008 at Perkins County Community Hospital in Grant, Neb. She was born April 18, 1912 in Laurel, Neb., the second of four children born to Soren Jr. and Edith (Most) Jensen. She grew up in the Laurel community where she received her elementary schooling.
The Jensen family later moved to Holyoke, where Alberta graduated from Phillips County High School in Holyoke in 1929.
Alberta attended Colorado Teachers College in Greeley and taught in rural schools for four years. At the recommendation of her future husband, Alberta attended and graduated from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Denver in 1938.
Alberta was married to Ernest E. Colglazier Aug. 24, 1939 in Holyoke. She served as a nurse at Children's Hospital in Denver and later in Ohio at Cincinnati General while Ernest was finishing his medical school internship. Ernest and Alberta moved to Grant in February of 1941 and the Colglazier family has been an integral part of the medical history in Grant from that time on.
They converted their home into a maternity home until the Grant Hospital was built. They delivered over 600 babies at their home over a 10-year period. Alberta continued to serve as Ernest's office nurse until their son Clifford came back to Grant and established the present Colglazier Medical Clinic in 1979.
Ernest and Alberta were part of the first group of people to move into the Westview Retirement complex in 1993. Ernest died in 2002 and Alberta continued to live at Westview until January 2008 when she moved to Golden Ours Convalescent Home.

She belonged to Nighthawk Extension club, Federated Women's Club and was a member of FU chapter of P.E.O. in Grant.
She was a driving force for the blood mobile before moving to Westview. She loved children of all ages and the love was reciprocated. She was selected as the first Mother of the Year in Grant in 1959. She was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow through Rotary International, a gift bestowed upon her by Ernest.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alberta was preceded in death by two brothers, Philip and Lloyd Jensen; and a son-in-law, Robert Hanson.
