Based on a report from the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), Holyoke Elementary improved its overall CSAP test scores in 2008, with 62 percent of students in grades 3-6 falling within proficient or advanced levels. This is compared to 58 percent in 2007. Colorado's state average is 60 percent.
Holyoke's JR/SR High reports showed the school maintaining the same number of students at proficient and advanced levels as 2007 with 51 percent. This is slightly below the state average of 52 percent.

Phillips County 4-H members received two Grand Champion awards, one Reserve Grand Champion award and five Reserve Champion awards in General and Family Consumer Sciences projects at the Colorado State Fair during recent judging.
Besides the Champion ratings, 17 other projects received top-10 placings and five were given qualifying ribbons.
Grand Champions: Elise Atkins, Haxtun, Unit 24, Jr. Baking, Pie, won Grand Champion over all Junior Specialty Foods Projects as well as Champion in her unit. Brian Strong, Holyoke, Weeds, Unit 2 Sr. Growing Habits and Control, won top place over all Senior Weeds plus Champion in his unit.

Amanda E. Bennett, a student at the University of Colorado in Boulder, was recently notified she is one of 10 juniors being honored at the Fall 2008 Convocation ceremonies.
The Provost's Achievement and Convocation Award Selection is based on strong academic work, leadership, service activities and special achievements. The 10 juniors to be honored were selected on strength of academic excellence and citizenship.
