Annexation ordinance introduced for land south of town

    Holyoke City Council continues to make progress with its resolution to annex the O'Neal land south of Holyoke. The land will be the future site of the new Pamida store.
     During their regular council meeting on Tuesday, July 15, board members held a public hearing to determine if the proposed annexation is in compliance with established procedures. Hearing no objections, the resolution was passed.

Interview judging opens 2008 Fair

    Cloverbud 4-H member Emily Jelden, pictured at right, is quite comfortable with Carole Blomme as she talks about her 4-H project during Interview Judging at the Phillips County Fairgrounds Tuesday morning, July 22. Many volunteer judges were on hand to listen to 4-H youth tell about their projects. While the one-on-one discussion was optional for Cloverbuds, it was required for all 4-H members age 8 and older. Phillips Co. Fair in full swing

    The Phillips County Fair kicked off this week, with fun activities lined up to suit the tastes of all ages.
     "Generations Building A Future Together" is the theme of the 2008 event, with activities planned through Sunday, July 27.

Digital television transition coming soon

    Sharon Crist, with PC Telcom, said PC Telcom customers will not be affected by the Feb. 17, 2009 transition to digital television. Additionally, no cable or satellite customer who is paying for service will be affected, Crist explained.
     Individuals who will be affected by the digital television (DTV) transition are customers who receive free over-the-air broadcasting through rabbit ears, a roof antenna or another similar device.
