Churches in Holyoke and the surrounding area will celebrate the holiday season with special services. Holyoke Assembly of God will have their regular Sunday service on Dec. 20, then at 3 p.m. they will be going caroling followed by a birthday party at 5 p.m. Christmas Eve service will be at 6 p.m. At First Christian Church, services are set for Christmas Eve candlelight services at 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. At First Baptist Church of Holyoke, Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held at 5 p.m. St. Patrick Catholic Church is having Christmas Eve carols at 11 p.m. and Mass at 11:30 p.m. Christmas Mass will be at 8:30 a.m. New Year’s Eve Mass will be at 6 p.m. Christ the King of Haxtun will hold a 10:30 a.m. Christmas Mass and a 7:30 p.m. Mass on New Year’s Eve. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Amherst will hold a Christmas Eve service with a children’s program at 4:30 p.m. On Christmas Day, church will be held at 9 a.m. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Venango, Neb. will host a children’s program on Sunday, Dec. 20 at 5 p.m. On Christmas Eve they will celebrate with a candlelight and communion service at 6:30 p.m. Zion Lutheran Church will have a children’s Christmas program on Sunday, Dec. 20 at 5 p.m. In addition, the church will have a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 5 p.m. and a Christmas Day service at 9 a.m. First United Methodist Church is planning a Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. Fairfield Covenant Church, located north of Paoli, will host a Swedish Julotta service at 7 a.m. Christmas morning with a coffee hour to follow. Venango Community Church is having a Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church will be having several holiday services, the first being on Sunday, Dec. 20 at 5 p.m. Then on Dec. 22, they will be caroling at 4:30 p.m. They will wrap up the festivities with a Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. |
