|Class of 2010 ACT scores beat state avg.|

Results of the Colorado American College Test (ACT) taken by HHS juniors last spring show the Class of 2010 composite score at 20.4, compared to the state average of 19.6.
The ACT is administered to all 11th grade students. There are four sub-tests, including English, math, reading and science reasoning. In addition, a composite score is based on the results of the four sub-tests.
Holyoke students scored better than the state average in all contest areas.
HHS students scored 19.7 in English over the state’s average of 18.6; HHS 20.5 in math, over the state’s average 19.5; HHS 20.8 in reading, compared to state average of 20.1; and HHS 19.9 in science, slightly over the state’s average of 19.8.
As juniors, the HHS Class of 2007 averaged 20.3 on the ACT test, compared to the state average of 19.0. The Class of 2008 was right at the state average of 19.1.
A year ago, the HHS Class of 2009 averaged 19.1, below the state average of 19.4. This year, the Class of 2010 state average rose to 19.6, and Holyoke students turned in a composite score average of 20.4.
Holyoke had 30 testing students in the Class of 2010 and 36 in the Class of 2009.
