|Holyoke wins Phillips Co. golf tourney at Haxtun|

Playing simply for bragging rights, six Holyoke golfers and six from Haxtun set up a Ryder Cup formatted tournament Saturday, Aug. 29 at F&H Golf Course.
Holyoke won this year in what participant Jeremy Thompson called a fun time. The Holyoke team sincerely appreciated what the Haxtun team did in hosting the fun event, according to Thompson. They hope to make this an annual event, alternating between the Holyoke and Haxtun courses.
Competition involved three aspects: a two-man team best-ball approach, two-man team alternate shot format and individual golfing. Thompson said the alternate shot was a new experience for many of the players, and was a great deal of fun.
A donor has agreed to purchase a trophy which will be housed at the winning golf course for the year after it’s won. The year of play and team that won will be etched on the trophy.
Holyoke team members were Thompson, Rusty Triplette, Brian Carruthers, Kurtis Huss, Jason Koberstein and Ben Rahe.
Haxtun team members included Chris Bornhoft, John Everitt, Rob Urbach, Kenny Pierce, Tyler Knode and Larry McConnell.
