|School invests scholarship moneys|

Investment of scholarship moneys in the amount of $130,000 was approved at the Sept. 1 meeting of Holyoke School District Re-1J School Board.
The investment was made with American National Bank in a 12-month CD at 1.75 percent interest for approximate earnings of $2,275.
Supt. Bret Miles emphasized because this money is used directly to award student scholarships, it is in the best interest of the school district to find the best rate, even if that rate is not with a local bank.
Local interest rates for the CD were quoted between .44-.75 percent. Last year, the scholarship account was invested at a rate of 3.47 percent at Bank of Colorado and earned $3,570.
One year from now, an attempt will be made to move the account back to a local bank, noted Miles.
In other business at the Sept. 1 meeting, the Re-1J board:
