Booster club feeds visiting team PDF Print E-mail

Booster Club members got down and dirty helping feed the players of the Peyton Panther football team on Friday, Sept. 18. Peyton had a four-hour bus ride home after the game and was very appreciative of the meal.

Long road trips were an occurring thing for the team who traveled nearly four hours the week prior for their game in New Castle.

Many meals and donations are made and provided by the Booster Club throughout the year. They furnished cakes and drinks for the volleyball team, donated a Dragon jacket to the golf team for their auction, furnished food for all three sports banquets, gave out three $500 scholarships to student athletes, solicited donations for a new wall mat for the wrestling team, provided water and gatorade to all HHS/HJHS teams as requested, packed to-go meals, snacks and gatorade for the boys’ basketball team for state, packed snacks for the band to the state tournament, ran a 50/50 fund raiser at basketball games, sold autographed team sport balls and pictures, donated money for volleyball shirts and jerseys, furnished breakfast and snack packs for the football team going to Hotchkiss, furnished special patches for defense records in basketball, furnished autographed basketballs for coaches of state runner-up team, purchased pompoms for football crowd, purchased beads for basketball crowds, purchased practice baseballs for team, furnished three pizza parties for softball, volleyball and junior high team, purchased special equipment to be used on gym floors and wrestling mats, donated two dragon shirts to 92.3 FM, furnished flowers for cheerleaders, provided gatorade for girls’ basketball team at regionals, furnished homecoming buffet for football team and donated money to the yearbook.

The Dragon Booster Club is looking for board members, according to president Pat Vasa. He said officers will be elected soon but they are in need of some more people.

Phil Gray and his wife Irene, along with Vasa, served the meal to the Peyton team.
