Twenty-nine members from Holyoke’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended their annual Fall Leadership Conference at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Keeping with the national theme “Simply the Best,” the conference showed new members FBLA’s possibilities, enhanced returning members’ skills and drove executive officers to new levels.
Students had an opportunity to participate in leadership training offered by TRI Leadership Resources, an international team building consulting and training company specializing in team building, organizational development and team development activities.
TRI planned an upbeat, interactive program which encouraged FBLA members to take their skills to a new level at the Colorado FBLA Fall Leadership Conference.
After an opening meeting, local FBLA members focused their skill development by participating in one of four tracks: Officer, Business, Member and Leader.
Officer Leadership Program was planned for chapter officers. The officers reviewed state and national programs and learned how to create an effective Program of Work. The Program of Work is a plan of action for the year including all chapter activities.
Officers developed team skills, received training on specific officer roles and FBLA programs and took action to lead their chapter this year.
Business Leadership Program was for the students who desire to get in and get the most out of business. This track was for members who truly have a passion for business, entrepreneurship and becoming future executives.
As part of the track, members reviewed the FBLA Business Achievement Awards Program and specific competitive events like Business Plan, Entrepreneurship, Partnership with Business and American Enterprise Project.
Member Leadership Program was for first year members. During the conference, the members’ exploration assignment helped them understand the goals of FBLA and how they can achieve those goals. They gained a basic working knowledge that will give them the keys to success.
