JV girls fall to Idalia, Wray in season openers PDF Print E-mail

Girls’ jayvee basketball team could not find victory during last weekend’s competitions, losing to Idalia 24-31 Friday, Dec. 4 and Wray 21-55 Saturday, Dec. 5.

Coach Arlan Scholl noted although they lost, the team played hard. Both the JV and C teams gained a lot of good early season experience. “I saw some good improvement as we start the season,” he said.


Holyoke JV 24, Idalia 31

In Friday’s tough game on Idalia’s court, Holyoke’s JV girls came out strong leading 8-5 at the end of the first quarter. Idalia pulled ahead, and even though scores were close at the end of the second and third quarters, the Dragons could not find the win, losing 24-31.

Erin Vieselmeyer and Patricia Adams led the Dragon scoring, both with eight points. KrisAnna Ham, Marissa Chambers, Jordan Bernard and Chandler Gerk all added two.

Holyoke JV 21, Wray 55

On Holyoke’s home court Saturday, both teams started out strong resulting in a 14-15 score at the end of the first quarter, with Wray in the lead.

Wray dominated scoring the rest of the game, and HHS could not keep up the momentum from the first quarter, putting up only seven more points in the last period. The Eagles had a strong second half scoring 31 points, finishing with the 55-21 win.

Ham led with 10 points, followed by Vieselmeyer with six, Annie Daniel and Gerk two apiece and Elissa Baker one.
