Gift wrapping toys for the My Little Angel Toy Drive was the last step before distribution in this year’s endeavor. Among the elves assisting with the Saturday morning wrapping are those pictured from left, Josie Murray, Troy Stewart, Tiffany Watson, Luke Stewart, Jennifer Struckmeyer and Bev Struckmeyer.
Seven families who have lost children of their own paid tribute to their children’s memories in assisting with the Toy Drive. Many other community volunteers jumped on board to help with the project and to purchase tickets for the “Night Full of Memories” raffle basket. The seven leaders in this year’s Toy Drive effort were Brett and Josie Murray, in memory of son Ethan; Lauri Gibbs, in memory of son Lonnie Rueter; Randy and Karin Kramer, in memory of son Todd; Rich and Gail Hielscher, in memory of son Brett; Damon and Pam Struckmeyer, in member of son Westyn; Paula Strode, in memory of son Justin; and Lucas and Shannon Schlachter, in memory of daughter Marie.
Julie Jones of Wray, who was Westyn Struckmeyer’s babysitter, was the winner of the Night Fulll of Memories raffle basket, as drawn at halftime of the boys’ basketball game Saturday night.
Toys will be distributed in Haxtun and Holyoke, led in Holyoke by Zion Lutheran Church, in coordination with Phillips County Dept. of Social Services.
