Event Center benefits from Petteys Memorial Foundation gift PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise
Phillips County Event Center is completed and has been utilized by different groups with others planning on using the new facility in the near future. Funding for the project came from all different areas and supporters. Pictured from left at the Center are County Commissioner Susan Roll Walters, First Pioneer National Bank President Tom Bennett and Commissioners Bud Biesemeier and Jerry Beavers. The Petteys Memorial Foundation committed $100,000 to the project over a four-year period through its affiliate bank, First Pioneer National. This is the second of the four year donation. The foundation was established in Brush in 1943 by the family of Anna and Alonzo Petteys upon the death of their son Jack in an army flight training accident. An exceptional athlete and student from Brush, Jack attended Stanford University until he left school to join the army air corps during the early stages of WWII.
