|Unemployed program offered at NJC|

Northeastern Junior College will offer a third session of its grant-funded “Step Into Your Future” program, designed to help those in northeast Colorado who are unemployed and needing help re-entering the job market. This third session will begin at the end of January and applications to participate must be submitted to the college by Jan. 22.
Using some newly acquired grant dollars, NJC and other partners are currently offering this program. Two prior sessions have been run. The goal of the program is to help those in the area who are unemployed to re-enter the job market by providing assistance in a number of areas, including exploring personal career goals, brushing up on basic academic/computer skills, earning a GED if necessary, learning or improving various workplace skills and even learning better English skills if necessary.
The program helps participants with their job search process, perhaps even helping them get a job, although there is no guarantee of this made to those who participate.
The application process is free. Those who want to be considered must complete a paper application first, and then they are contacted and scheduled for an interview to determine if this program will benefit them in their search.
Applications are available as of Jan. 11 at the adult learning center on campus (across the street from the cosmetology building, which was formerly a childcare center.)
The center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Step Into Your Future program is coordinated by Megan Schell. She may be reached beginning Jan. 11 at 521-6761.
