|JV girls grab two wins|

Adding two more wins to their record, Holyoke JV girls’ basketball team now has a nine-game winning streak. They defeated Akron 47-35 Friday, Jan. 29 and Chase County 24-17 Saturday, Jan. 30.
“Coach Clint Goldenstein is doing a very good job with our JV program,” said coach Arlan Scholl. “We look forward to avenging our early season loss to Wray when we meet them this coming Friday.”
Holyoke JV 47, Akron 35
HHS came out strong for their game against Akron, outscoring the Rams in the first two quarters. The Dragons headed into halftime with a 16-point lead.
Although Akron put up 27 points in the second half compared to Holyoke’s 23, it wasn’t enough to take the lead from the Dragons.
Leading Holyoke scoring was Mallory Bennett with 12 points followed by Heather Duester with 10; Chandler Gerk eight; Laura Gerk six; Kaylee Groshans five; and KrisAnna Ham, Annie Daniel and Erin Vieselmeyer two apiece.
Holyoke JV 24, Chase Co. 17
In Saturday’s three-period JV game, Holyoke outscored Chase County in the first two periods with a 20-9 lead going into the final period. While Chase County made a run for the lead, the Dragons held them for the 24-17 victory at the buzzer.
In team stats, Bennett led with seven points followed by Ham with six, Duester and Vieselmeyer four apiece and Groshans three.
