HHS boys’ jayvee basketball team split a pair of games falling to Wray, Friday, Feb. 5 and beating Burlington the following night.
Holyoke JV 47, Wray 55
Holyoke fell behind 9-16 early but fought back to trail by just two at the end of both the second and third quarters. Free throws accounted for most of Wray’s fourth-quarter points which allowed them to secure the 55-47 win.
Alex Quintana led scorers with 23. Jaydin Goldenstein added 11, Austin Killin and Brett Cumming each had four, Cody Fricke and Jeremy Loutensock each with two and Seth Baker added one.
Holyoke JV 55, Burlington 48
The Dragons jumped out to a quick 18-5 lead after the first quarter. Burlington made things interesting after coming back to trail by just five heading into the final stanza. Holyoke finished 23-32 from the free throw line which accounted for just over half their points.
Quintana had a career high scoring 31 points. Baker added nine, Killin six, Fricke three while Cumming, Deyten Klein and Loutensock each added two.
