|Dragons bring home gold ball as 2A Boys' State Champions|

Holyoke High School won the 2A Colorado State Boys’ Basketball championship Saturday, March 13 with a 55-38 win over Ignacio in the state finals. The gold ball and the thrill of victory came home with the Dragons.
The state championship was the second-ever in HHS history, with the first having been earned in 1984 by the Dragon boys’ team.
On their way to the state championship, Holyoke knocked off Hayden 50-36 Thursday and made it past Sanford 43-33 in the semis on Friday.
Seniors Kyle Carper and Ryan Baumgartner soared to the top when they were named to the 2A All-Tournament team by The Denver Post. Carper also earned MVP honors in the state tournament. Others on the all-tourney team were senior Alex Herrera of Ignacio, senior Brett Forster of Sanford and sophomore Johnny Foote of Lutheran (Parker).
