HHS baseball team kicked off the 2010 season Thursday, March 18 in a double header with Wiggins in Holyoke. The games were originally scheduled for Saturday, March 20 but were changed due to poor weather expected for Saturday.

The Dragon team is looking for great things after coming off an 11-9 season in which they upset the No. 1 ranked team in the state during the district semifinal, and finished 1-1 at the regional tournament.

Head coach Kyle Bules said he would like to see the team make it back to the regional tournament and possibly bring home a regional championship.

“We need to do the little things right to win,” Bules said. He also mentioned he expects the team to win a couple games they aren’t expected to win.

Six returning letterwinners lead the 2010 campaign. They include seniors Ryan Baumgartner and Logan Krueger, junior Brian DeBoer, and sophomores Reid Baumgartner, Broc Pelle and Austin Killin.

Other team members include seniors Shaun Beck and Brandon Oosthuysen; juniors Francisco Diaz, Dustin Carrick and Preston King; sophomores Chris Bieber and Parker Redfern; and freshmen Astolfo Rojo, Logan Zeiler, Phillip Beck, Cesar Hinostroza, Jaydin Goldenstein, Brett Cumming, Alfredo Santos, Oto Martinez, Jesus Hermosillo, Spencer Kotch, Ben Martinez and Deyten Klein.

Kyle Bules begins his third year as head coach of the Dragons. He is assisted by Marcus Kammer and John Ortner. Logan Tharp serves as manager for the team.
