Last weekend marked the conclusion of the Northwest Kansas Swim League summer season. Holyoke Swim Club has had a number of dedicated members swimming at each meet, league being no exception. The team brought home nine trophies and several medals from the July 9-10 meet in Colby, Kan.

“The two day meet was extremely successful both in time drops, as well as improved technique,” said coach Adria Colver.

Due to the absence of a teammate, the 11-12 girls moved to the 13-14 age group for their relays. They dropped an astonishing amount of time in the 200 yd. freestyle relay and later won the medley relay, with another personal best time. It was a terrific finish to the meet and the season, Colver commented.

Swimmers were recognized at the end of the league meet for cumulative points throughout the season. In the girls 8 and under age division, Emily Jelden took 1st; Morganne Kumm, 3rd; and Lauren Bergner, 6th. Seth Watson placed 2nd in boys 8 and under.

In girls 11-12 Emily Krogmeier placed 2nd; Danielle Brandt, 3rd; and Lori McWilliams, 6th. Megan Vieselmeyer placed 5th in the girls 13-14 category.

In addition to season high points, trophies were also given for high point winners at the two-day league meet. Holyoke’s Emily Jelden won first in her age group.

Team points at the end of the meet were Goodland, 340; Colby, 278; Wray, 246; Oberlin, 207; Burlington, 193; Holyoke, 139; Flagler, 52; and Oakley, 50.
