|Swimmers take on Eaton, Scottsbluff|

HHS swimmers, competing with the Sterling High School girls’ team, traveled to Eaton Tuesday, Jan. 13 and to Scottsbluff, Neb. Thursday, Jan. 15.
Sterling won the Eaton dual 97-79 and lost 61-124 to Scottsbluff.
Holyoke coach Adria Colver noted the Scottsbluff dual was the swimmers’ third meet in six days, and the only one that wasn’t a league meet. As a result, they chose to use it as an opportunity to swim “off-events,” which were different from each girl’s specialty in order to keep their favorite stroke from getting stale.
Colver said she saw some surprisingly good swims, despite the loss to a very good team.
In individual events at Eaton, LeAnne McWilliams placed third in the 100 back and fourth in the 100 freestyle. Briar Bergner claimed fourth in the 100 breast.
Three local girls were on place-winning 200 medley relay teams. McWilliams swam the backstroke on the first-place team, Bergner swam the breaststroke on the second-place team and Amy Krogmeier swam the backstroke on the third-place team.
Krogmeier was also a member of the third-place 400 freestyle relay.
Other HHS students competing at Eaton included Pamela McWilliams, Chelsy Gomez and Kendra Walz.
At Scottsbluff, Bergner placed fifth in the 100 breast and LeAnne McWilliams was a memer of the second-place 200 free relay.
Other Holyoke competitors at Scottsbluff were Krogmeier, Pamela McWilliams, Jordan Zeiler, Gomez and Walz, as well as Amber Wilkening of Haxtun HS.
This week, the Sterling swimmers traveled to Windsor Tuesday, Jan. 20, with results to appear in next week’s Enterprise. The girls will host Silver Creek Tuesday, Jan. 27 in a 5 p.m. dual in Sterling and will travel to Estes Park for a dual Thursday, Jan. 29.
