Dragon’s Wagon Preschool—First Place Civic and Overall Grand Champion

Stalks of corn seemed to be a common sight on many of the floats throughout the Phillips County Fair parade while people kept to the “Keepin’ it Growing” theme Saturday, July 31.

It was balloons, streamers and kids in buckets, however, that took Grand Champion Honors as Dragon’s Wagon Preschool built the winning float.

The colorful float was full of young preschoolers and teachers as they rode down the street waving to the crowd.

Other parade results

Following the presentation of the flags, Parade Grand Marshals Elsie and Leo Fisbeck opened the parade.

Water guns, clowns, four-wheelers, politicians, pint-sized semi trucks, a llama, fire trucks, tractors and even a motorized shopping cart could be seen traveling down Interocean Avenue.

Prizes were given to winners in categories including civic, youth mini, youth maxi and business.

In the youth maxi division there was a tie with the top three and they had to be rejudged.

Results are as follows:

Youth mini—Town and Country 4-H, first.

Youth maxi—Challengers 4-H, first; Camp Machasay, second; Better Beef Makers, third.

Business—First Pioneer National Bank, first; MV Equipment, second; PC Telcom, third.

Civic—Dragon’s Wagon Preschool, first; Lions Club, second; Shriner’s, third.
