4-H achievement rewarded at Fair PDF Print E-mail

All 4-H members deserve pats on the back for their project effort at the 2010 Phillips County Fair.

Grand Champion (GC) and Reserve Grand Champion (RGC) efforts in food, booths, clothing and other general home ec/general 4-H projects were recognized at last week’s county fair. 4-H shooting sports and FFA farm mechanics were also rewarded.


Elise Atkins won GC specialty foods, as well as GC foods overall.

Lauren Bergner earned GC general foods and RGC foods overall, with Rebecca Owens taking RGC general foods and RGC specialty foods.


Grace Dille was named GC in 4-H clothing, with Anna Jelden earning RGC honors.

Artistic clothing judging found Lauren Bergner as GC, with Megan Vieselmeyer as RGC.

Shooting Sports

Gage Tuell won GC shooting sports recognition, with Preston Salvador taking RGC. Austin Vieselmeyer was GC in archery, with Ciera Schelling RGC.

Miscellaneous Grand Champions

GC honors for other 4-H projects were earned by Keegan Shaw, ceramics and visual arts; Riley Thompson, photography and best photo; Taylor Hendrix, heritage arts; Brenna Sullivan, cake decorating; Erin Vieselmeyer, scrapbooking; Molly Brandt, consumer savvy.

Megan Colglazier, computers; Nicholas Ortner, model rocketry; Austin Herman, woodworking; Elise Atkins, gardening; Brittney Mahnke, leathercraft; Tanner Smith, outdoor adventures; Emily Atkins, entomology; and Jarrett Woodhead, small engines.

Miscellaneous Reserve Grand Champions

RGC awards for other 4-H projects went to Josie Herman, photography and outdoor adventures; Janna Smith, scrapbooking and leathercraft; Elise Atkins, heritage arts; Josilyn Lutze, cake decorating; Austin Herman, model rocketry; and Brian Strong, woodworking.


Challengers 4-H Club continued a long-time tradition, winning GC in 4-H booth set-ups. Better Beef Makers earned RGC.

Farm Mechanics

Jeff Hawthorne was GC in FFA farm mechanics, while Tyler Weiss was RGC.
