|Financial Peace University offers debt eliminating classes|

Want to eliminate debt, save for the future and give like never before? Those interested are invited to attend one of three preview sessions for Financial Peace University (FPU).
Preview sessions are scheduled at First United Methodist Church in Holyoke Aug. 22, 24 and 26. Sunday, Aug. 22 the program will be held from 1-2 p.m. and from 7-8 p.m. on the other two dates.
FPU is a program by Dave Ramsey to help people achieve their financial goals. Ramsey is a personal money management expert, popular national radio personality and the author of New York Times best sellers, The Total Money Makeover, Financial Peace and More Than Enough.
The program will be facilitated by Steven Wright of Holyoke.
The preview sessions will take approximately 30 minutes in which time a DVD will be shown outlining the program. Wright will be available to answer questions pertaining to the program after the DVD is shown.
Having gone through the program himself, Wright truly believes in it. FPU helped him get through tough times after losing his home to foreclosure in Wyoming after 10 years of home ownership. He attributes irresponsible money management and higher payments to his past problems. A second mortgage continued to follow him nearly a year and a half after the fact and FPU helped him through it.
“I’m only doing it because it was so painful to go through some of the things financially that I did,” Wright said.
He added that Ramsey presents the material in a very motivational and funny way.
Pete Fagerlin of First United Methodist Church said he has received personal testimonies from five close friends who have taken the course. “It has truly changed each of their lives dramatically,” he added.
The actual classes won’t begin until Sept. 7 and are taught through the use of DVDs featuring Ramsey.
Those enrolling in the class are given a lifetime membership and may participate in classes in the future no matter where they are, according to Wright.
FPU is sponsored by Holyoke Ministerial Alliance. There is a cost for the program and can be found out at one of the preview sessions.
