Sue Sharkey, Republican candidate for University of Colorado Regent in Congressional District 4 made a quick stop in Holyoke as part of her eastern plains swing last week.
Sharkey, who resides in Windsor with her husband, has been campaigning for nearly a year leading up to the November election.
CU is one of four schools in the country that has their board of directors elected. The other three include the University of Nebraska, Michigan and Nevada.
Sharkey said she enjoys getting out to meet people and let them know exactly what the Board of Regents is all about.
Sharkey is the mother of current and former CU students and has a business background. She is also a member of the University of Colorado Parent Association Board (CUPA).
Along with her stop in Holyoke, Sharkey visited Julesburg, Sterling, Burlington, Las Animas, La Junta and many other towns in eastern and northeastern Colorado.
Nine members make up the Board of Regents at CU with seven of them being elected from the seven congressional districts. There are also two at-large members.
