Highline Electric Association approves membership refunds PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise

Highline Electric Association has announced the Board of Directors approved a capital credits refund of approximately $1,853,000 to the membership. In addition, Highline retired capital credits totaling over $169,800 to estates in 2010.

“At the November board of directors’ meeting, the board voted to return the remaining unpaid Highline Electric capital credits for 1996 and 43 percent of 1997 and the remaining unpaid generation and transmission capital credits for 1991 and 40 percent of 1992,” general manager Mark Farnsworth said. “This means that if you purchased electricity from Highline Electric in 1991, 1992, 1996 or 1997, you will receive a check for your portion of Highline Electric’s margins.”

Farnsworth stated Highline Electric Association will issue the checks in mid-December. “These refunds are dividends paid to Highline Electric members, as they are the owners of the electric utility,” he added. “This is one of the advantages of doing business with your local cooperative.”

Note that checks must be cashed before March 15, 2011, or they will be voided.

Highline Electric Association is a member-owned rural electric cooperative that serves over 10,000 meters in all or part of seven counties in northeastern Colorado and four counties in southwestern Nebraska. The association is also a partner in Touchstone Energy, the national advertising brand of electric cooperatives.
