Written by Holyoke Enterprise

On a clear, wintry night, Holyoke band students shared the songs and sounds of Christmas, as well as other music in their Winter Band Concert Monday, Dec. 13.

This was Stuart Potter’s debut as director of the local bands, and the first stage-time for the beginning fifth grade band students, as well.

Fifth graders, along with director Potter, demonstrated what they do in class. Using projected images and the screen on the back of the stage, they shared rhythm lessons and much more.

After the warm-up demo, the young band students performed Au Claire de la Lune, Hot Cross Buns, Rolling Along, Jolly Old St. Nicholas and Jingle Bells.

HHS band members opened Monday’s concert with Up on the Housetop, Silent Night, Deck the Halls and Funky Ol’ St. Nick.
