Town lighting displays enjoyed PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise

Dear Editor,

Over the five years I have resided in Holyoke, December 2010 provided the most outstanding display of Christmas lights.

It seemed to me more people participated than any other Christmas. I started after Thanksgiving and drove around to see everybody’s lights and the closer it got to Christmas, the more people participated.

This kind of display demonstrates solidarity for the spirit of Christmas as well as the spirit of our city.

We take pride in our city and we understand a sense of community. We may share a different viewpoint from our neighbor on an issue, but in the bigger picture we are as one.

This shared the moment of Christmas on the outside of our homes as we do on the inside with love and joy and believing.

Continue to share in the love and joy and believing throughout the year. Live in the moment, every moment by doing what you are doing.

As for the children who chose to destroy and/or remove Christmas decorations from someone else’s property, remember this: you are the culmination of your actions. You own your words and deeds and they will come back to you. So, do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

Happy New Year.
