Twenty years ago she served as a dispatcher in Holyoke, left, and now returned to fill the open Phillips and Sedgwick County Victims Assistance Coordinator position.
Darlene Johnson, who was born and raised in Holyoke, has returned after nearly 17 years to fill the vacant position left by Shawna Bergstrom, who took a position with the Colorado Department of Probation.
Johnson was a dispatcher, and later the director of the communications center in Holyoke in the early 1990s. She then moved to Sterling where she worked both for the communication center and Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Along with the victims advocate role, Johnson will also serve as the office administrator working with billing and civil papers, just to name a few.
Johnson opted to move back to Holyoke to get a little closer to her mother and siblings.
She has three children. Crystal and her two kids Madison and Cody live in Windsor, Bobby in Fort Collins and John in Atwood.
In her free time, Johnson enjoys spending time with her kids and grandchildren.
She is looking forward to getting acquainted with others in the department and victims advocate program. “I’m excited,” she said.
