Porsche Brooklyn Wilson, daughter of Jack Wilson and Janelle Buchanan of Julesburg, was born Jan. 3 at MMH, claiming Holyoke’s first baby of the year honors for 2006.

Dan and Judy O’Neill have purchased a majority of the 20-store Kwik Stop chain, including the Holyoke store, from Paul and Jacque Trumble of North Platte, Neb.

Jan. 11, 2001

After installing new warning sirens last week, city officials announced earlier this week that the new system will not meet the needs of the city in their present state. The city will switch back to the old system by the end of the week and will use them until a solution can be found.

A masked gunman who allegedly robbed First National Bank of Fleming on Dec. 7 was arrested last week in Chase County, Neb. in connection with another bank robbery.

Holyoke City Council members are considering a noise ordinance to deal with the high number of noise complaints from members of the community.

Edgar Dominguez, son of Arturo and Lucia Dominguez of Holyoke, was born Jan. 7, the first baby of the new year at Melissa Memorial Hospital.

Clyde Foley Cummins, one of the most exciting acts on the 1984-85 fair circuit was recently booked to appear at the 1986 Phillips County Fair.

Holyoke City Council voted at its Jan. 7 meeting to hire Jack Ellison for the position of city building inspector.

Guy Poe, state representative for Phillips and Sedgwick counties, was named chairman of the powerful rules committee in the Colorado House of Representatives.

Marvin Zeiler is named the new Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department president. E. Blaine Scott is returning fire chief.

Clarence Barth of Holyoke was named Phillips County winner in the 1960 Tekseed Hybrid Company high yield award program, with a yield of 107 bushels of corn per acre on irrigated corn.
