Colorado State Action Team for the Rural Law Enforcement Methamphetamine Initiative will be presenting at Early Childhood Council of Logan, Phillips and Sedgwick Counties’ (ECCLPS) regional third quarter meeting. This will be held Friday, Jan. 28 from 9:30-11 a.m. at Sedgwick County Human Services, 118 W. 3rd St., Julesburg.
Project Director Nicola Erb will be there to talk about the project.
Colorado was one of seven states selected to receive this Recovery Act funding from the Department of Justice. Each state had some flexibility in deciding how to spend this money.
Colorado formed a multi-disciplinary team of over 35 professionals to work on this project along with the project director. The team decided to focus on all substances (not just meth) and their impacts on children.
They selected four judicial districts—the 9th, 13th, 16th and 18th. These areas were selected because someone from a local community in that district invited them to come and help.
They are in the process of doing a community needs assessment with each area. Once these initial assessments are done, the state action team can present what resources they have available that might help address some of the needs.
