Intersection trio to perform in Ogallala PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise

“Dazzling!” is the first word that will come to mind upon experiencing a performance by Intersection.

The three young musicians that make up this outstanding New York trio consist of violinist Lara Frautschi, cellist Kristina Reiko Cooper and pianist John Novacek. They will be on stage at Ogallala, Neb. High School Lecture Hall Thursday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.

Intersection is a trio concert with a varied program of repertoire from all parts of the music world. A typical evening may center on a Ravel, Dvorak or Brahms trio but will veer into excerpts of American film music, popular theater and song.

Traditional piano trio repertoire will be present, but those works will be balanced by compositions that are lighter, shorter and readily understood and enjoyed.

At one concert it was quoted, “The encore was intoxication, a rag by pianist John Novacek. This lightning fast piece was notable for its remarkable ensemble.”

This dynamic group has forged a powerful connection with audiences worldwide. Their numerous recordings have been best sellers and have topped the classical and crossover charts. In Japan alone, CD sales have been in excess of 100,000.

Intersection has also become a familiar presence in the popular media, through numerous magazine covers, high profile appearances on TV and through their much-loved cameos on television commercials.

The members of Intersection play with exuberance and verve. Their dynamic range is broad, yet changes in dynamics are instantaneous yet natural sounding. Their playing brings out drama and excitement but also joy, a love of music and a love of playing together. Solos and duos add to the variety of their performances.

Ogallala Regional Arts Council (ORAC) is pleased to bring this highly artistic trio to Ogallala. ORAC members will be admitted with their membership cards. Tickets for nonmembers may be purchased at the door. ORAC council members will be hosting a reception following the performance. For more information, call 308-284-4339.
