Holyoke Job Club kicks off March 8 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Holyoke Enterprise

Phillips County Family Education Services, Social Services, Economic Development, Rural Solutions and Eastern Region Workforce Center are partnering to launch the brand new Holyoke Job Club next month.

A series of six workshops will teach participants about job searching strategies, interviewing skills and other essential resources for landing a good job.

The first session is set to begin Tuesday, March 8 from 1-3 p.m. at Phillips County Event Center at absolutely no cost to anyone interested. The six-week course will continue each Tuesday at the same time and place.

Lyn Frank of the Eastern Region Workforce Center in Sterling will be leading the job club, but the idea is that co-facilitators Tricia Herman and Nici Bishop will be able to take over for additional six-week sessions in Holyoke.

Frank has had success with job clubs in both Sterling and Yuma. “It gives people an opportunity to network and talk with others going through the same things,” she said.

Topics covered at the six workshops include:

—job applications, pre-interviews and job searching strategies.

—services offered at the Workforce Center, opportunities at www.connectingcolorado.com and online applications.

—résumés and identifying skills/accomplishments in a job plan.

—cover letters and more on job plans.

—interview strategies.

—mock interview skits and hopefully the chance to hear from business owners in Holyoke.

For more information or to register, contact Frank at 970-521-6816 or Herman at 970-854-2595.
