Holyoke FFA Chapter celebrated National FFA Week Feb. 7-11 at HHS. Students enjoyed digging through their closets putting together outfits for designated dress-up days. Themes were camo/hunting, blue and gold, farm animal/rodeo attire, redneck/hillbilly and cowboy/cowgirl day.
The officer team gave out gift certificates and prizes each day to the winners. Cody Lamm and Wyatt Bishop were winners of camo/hunting day. Bishop also drove a four-wheeler to school.
Taylor Mayden and Kelsey Kramer won blue and gold day. Cavin Kramer took top honors for farm animal/rodeo day. Hillbilly/redneck winners were Sidney and Brandon Struckmeyer.
Cold and snowy weather forced the chapter to postpone barnyard day as well as horse and tractor day. Hopes are to reschedule the events later this spring.
An advisory breakfast was held Tuesday, Feb. 8 for students, faculty and advisory council members.
Greenhand degrees were awarded Thursday, Feb. 10. Along with receiving their pins, recipients’ hands were painted green.
“Even though we had to fight with the weather for our outdoor activities, we still feel like we had a successful week and a lot of fun,” chapter president Lauren Blomme said.
