|Preschool screening scheduled Feb. 28|
|Written by Holyoke Enterprise|
Northeast Colorado BOCES, in conjunction with Holyoke School District Re-1J, will be offering free developmental screening to children ages 3-5 who will not attend kindergarten next year.
The screen will briefly evaluate the areas of language, gross and fine motor, pre-academic development, hearing and other medical needs. All parents with preschool-aged children are encouraged to participate in this screening.
Children living in Holyoke can be screened Monday, Feb. 28 from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at Dragon’s Wagon Preschool. Call the school at 854-2999 to schedule an appointment to have a child screened.
Children identified as having needs that could affect later school performance may be eligible for special services through Northeast Colorado BOCES. These services are offered in a variety of community settings designed to meet the needs of preschool-aged children. Involvement in a program is not mandatory after participating in the screen and is not provided without parental consent.
Children under 3 can be screened on an individual basis.
For more information on the screening or questions regarding a child’s development, call the Early Childhood Coordinator: Haxtun BOCES Office at 970-774-6152.
