|District 2 basketball tourney this week|

Area teams hit the court Tuesday, Feb. 22 for first round play in the District 2 basketball tournament.
The Holyoke boys received the No. 4 seed and were scheduled to host No. 5 Wiggins Tuesday night on the Dragons’ home court. The winner of the game moves on to face No. 1 seed Yuma Thursday, Feb. 24 at 4:30 p.m. at NJC in Sterling. The Indians received a first-round bye.
No. 2 seed Wray played host to No. 7 Sedgwick County Tuesday night. The winner will go on to face the winner of No. 3 Burlington-No. 6 Akron Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at NJC.
The district championship will be played Saturday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at NJC. The third and fourth place game will be played Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
On the girls’ side, Holyoke earned the No. 5 seed and traveled to Wray Tuesday to face the No. 4 seeded Eagles. The winner will face No. 1 Sedgwick County, who received a first-round bye, Thursday at 3 p.m. at NJC in the semifinals.
No. 2 Akron played host to No. 7 Wiggins Tuesday evening. The winner will face the victor of No. 3 Burlington and No. 6 Yuma Thursday night at 6 p.m.
The girls’ championship game will be played at 6 p.m. Saturday at NJC. The third and fourth place game is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday.
Teams finishing first through fourth will advance to the regional tournament scheduled to begin Friday, March 4.
