|City pool back in business|

The door is unlocked and the water is warm again at Holyoke Swimming Pool.
Pool manager Karla Pargas said, “We’re open!”
The pool was closed Nov. 13 when the boiler that heats the water gave out. The city council voted to purchase a new boiler system when it was determined the old one couldn’t be fixed. Wern Air Inc. installed the new system and after some tweaking returned the water temperature back to normal.
The doors reopened Monday, Jan. 31 to the delight of frequent pool visitors.
Pargas said hours of operation will remain the same. She also noted after school swimming lessons will begin Monday, March 7. Levels one and two will be held Mondays or Wednesdays with levels three, four and five on Tuesdays. All classes will be held from 4-4:45 p.m.
Practices for summer swim team will begin Thursday, Feb. 24, according to Pargas, and will be held every Thursday from 3:45-5 p.m. Initial practices will be held for former swimmers with new swimmers being added at a later date.
A morning lap swim will be added from 6-8 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning Monday, March 7. Lap swim is also held Monday-Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and Sundays from 4-5 p.m.
Parent and Tot classes are held Mondays from 10-11 a.m. Open swimming is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8:30 p.m. and Sundays from 2-4 p.m.
Water exercise takes place from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
