|Online registration for SCORE camp now open|

The new SCORE website is now activated and ready for online registration, according to Project Director Marla Smith of Imperial, Neb.
SCORE stands for Science Camps Offer Rewarding Experiences and is an effort of the Chase County Schools Education Foundation.
This year’s camp dates are June 13-17 in and around Imperial.
The new website was designed by Jorge Cardoso of Black Brick Software, LLC. One of the new features offered through the online registration is credit card payment. The camp brochure, camp schedules, Outreach Programs (free and open to the public), activities and other camp information can also be viewed online at www.scorecamp.com.
SCORE camp brochures will be distributed to each grade 1-6 student in the Upper Republican NRD District (Chase, Dundy and Perkins counties in Nebraska). Brochures can also be picked up at local business sponsors. The brochure contains a registration form, but online registration is recommended, Smith said.
Early registration is encouraged, as there is limited space and camps tend to fill up rather quickly, Smith added.
Students need to register for the grade they are in for the 2010-2011 school year. Students attending the 1st or 2nd grade this year should register for the 1-2 Camp, 3rd and 4th grade for the 3-4 Camp, and 5th and 6th grade for the 5-6 Camp.
Schedule of camps:
Grades 1-2—June 13, 14, 15.
Grades 3-4—June 15, 16, 17.
Grades 5-6—June 14, 15, 16.
All camp times will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students will need to bring a sack lunch each day.
Registrations are due by June 1, with final registration day on June 6 at Chase County Schools. At that time, parents will need to pay any remaining fees, pick up camp t-shirts, water bottles, program schedule and other camp information.
“Days of Discovery” is this year’s theme, and will be emphasizing physics and chemistry.
Participants will engage in “hands-on” science activities investigating air pressure, electricity, motion, magnetism, energy, density, gases, combustion, flight, physical and chemical changes, science toys, simple machines, light/color, acids and bases, water, individual and team challenges and much more.
Several area teachers along with guest scientists and instructors will guide students through an adventure of a lifetime.
