Dandelion Daze promises to be an exciting event filled with cars, games, sales, food and fun.
The 11th annual Dandelion Daze car show, sponsored by the Holyoke Chamber of Commerce, begins Saturday morning on June 18 and continues throughout the day.
Dandelion Daze is being organized by chairmen Casey Blake and Michelle Harms, and they are planning on a very successful event. “There’s a lot of stuff planned. It should be a pretty full day,” said Blake about Saturday’s events.
Activities begin with citywide garage sales at 7 a.m. Locations of the garage sales will be available at the registration table.
Registration for the car show will take place from 8-11 a.m. on the Phillips County Courthouse lawn.
The Phillips County Arts Council Garden Tour will be from 8:30 a.m.-noon.
From 9 a.m.-3 p.m. many activities will be offered at the courthouse, including the Show & Shine, vendors, food, crafts and Candyland activities for kids, sponsored by “My Little Angel.” Throughout the day, merchant sales will also be offered in downtown Holyoke.
On the south side of the courthouse, RC gas-powered car races will be from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Be sure to fuel up at the Chamber luncheon on the courthouse lawn from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Cruise on over to the Phillips County Historical Museum between noon-2 p.m. and check out the transportation area, featuring a Hupmobile and a Model T.
The car show awards presentation and a quilt raffle drawing will be at 2 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. Awards will be given for the top 15 cars, the top gun and people’s choice.
The day will conclude with the Grease Lightning Parade following the car show awards. Car owners will drive from downtown Holyoke to the Regent Park/Carriage House parking lot to flaunt their hot rods.
