Classified staff, extra-duty assignments approved PDF Print E-mail

Classified staff at Holyoke School District Re-1J, as well as extra-duty assignments for the 2011-12 school year, were approved at the June 7 meeting of the Holyoke School Board.

Additionally, two new staff members were approved and one resignation was accepted.

The board accepted the resignation of elementary teacher aide Wyvonna Hofmann, effective May 27.

Heidi Wilkinson was hired as elementary special education teacher for the 2011-12 school year and Maria Elva Montes was hired as a JR/SR high custodian.

Wilkinson has four years experience teaching special education at Wray High School and another year of teaching business at WHS.

She earned her master’s of science in special education in May of 2010 at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.

Classified staff members who were offered employment for the 2011-12 school year follow:

Teacher aides­—Tracey Cordova, Tancy King, Leticia Penzing, Nancy Pillard, Verónica Núñez, Christy Shafer, Sarah St. Martin and Debra Drees.

Custodians—Brian Adams, Jessica Deering, Guadelupe Montes-Alveraz and Jack Garrison.

Secretaries—Tammy Kroe­ger, Brenda Krueger, Tammie Timm and Joan Price.

Budget and finance director, Sharon Thompson; district technology coordinator, Perry Ingram; maintenance/repair, Stan Kreider; grounds, Jerry Owens.

Transportation—Robert Jacobs, Mark Groshans, Fletcher Hinck, Dave Johnson, Scott Murray and Kim Young.

Extra-duty assignments were made, with some open spots still remaining in the coaching assignments for 2011-12.

Stipends are $3,102 for head HS coaching positions, band director, play director and teacher on special assignment (TOSA); $1,861 for assistant HS coaches and HS spirit coach.

Also, $1,825 for head JH coaches; $1,241 for assistant JH coaches and JH spirit coach; and $932 for choir director and musical director.

The following extra-duty assignments were made:

Kyle Bules, head HS football, head HS baseball and teacher on special assignment; Mike Smith, assistant HS football; Dusty McConnell, assistant HS football, assistant HS wrestling and assistant JH wrestling.

Scott Dille, head HS volleyball and head HS boys’ basketball; Michelle Vieselmeyer, assistant HS volleyball; Sarah Dille, volunteer assistant HS volleyball; Aaron Sprague, assistant HS boys’ basketball.

Arlan Scholl, head HS girls’ basketball; Kate Shoemaker, assistant HS girls’ basketball; Harvey Eurich, volunteer assistant HS girls’ basketball.

Jack Garrison, head HS wrestling and head JH wrestling; Cutter Garrison, assistant HS wrestling ($600), assistant JH/HS football ($1,000) and volunteer assistant JH wrestling.

Sandra Rahe, head HS boys’/girls’ track; Marcus Kammer, assistant HS baseball; Brett Gerk, volunteer assistant HS baseball.

Ashley Clayton, head HS softball; Shawna Close, assistant HS softball and band director.

In other personnel action, the Re-1J board hired Michelle Gregg and Kandice Kramer as the 2011 summer paint crew.

 

Policy adoption schedule designated

A complete schedule of the continuation of policy discussions, first readings and second readings was reviewed at last week’s board meeting.

Some sort of policy item will be on each board agenda through the end of the year, with Jan. 3 and 17 as backup dates for policy review.

Policy AED on accreditation was approved on second reading last week.

Six Section D and E policies were approved on first reading. They covered the topics of loan programs, inventories, annual audit, bidding procedures, authorized use of school-owned materials or equipment and walkers and riders.

Policies on community use of school facilities were introduced last week. A work session was held after the regular meeting in order for Supt. Bret Miles to obtain general guidance from the board before bringing a sample policy back for consideration.

 

Other business

In other business June 7, the Re-1J board:

—approved use of the new gym for a youth volleyball camp July 5-7.

—entered into an agreement with Lauer, Szabo & Associates, PC to perform the 2010-11 financial audit for the district.

­—heard from board president Dan Kafka of his intent to run a Letter to the Editor in The Holyoke Enterprise to encourage residents to start thinking about running for the school board. He pointed out he and board member Laura Krogmeier will not be eligible to seek re-election due to term limits.
