“I got a big one!” “Thank you!” “This is heavy!” Students were saying all sorts of things as they lined up to get their mitts on their bright orange pumpkin Thursday afternoon, Oct. 27. Six businesses came together to purchase pumpkins from Jackie and Toby Thompson of Pumpkins and More. Above, Dylan Hielscher can barely get his hands around his pumpkin.

Eduardo Hermosillo is pumped after getting his pumpkin.

Kambree Bules is all smiles.

Cash Weber is ecstatic after receiving his orange treat.

Rick Cumming and Brandi Martin hand out pumpkins to elementary students. Bank of Colorado, Grainland Cooperative, Holyoke Community Federal Credit Union, First Pioneer National Bank, PC Telcom and S&W Auto Supply came together to make the annual event a success. They also delivered pumpkins to Dragon’s Wagon Preschool. Recent moisture not only halted the annual corn harvest, it almost halted pumpkin day. Toby Thompson rolled up to the school Thursday afternoon and his normally blue Dodge Durango was mud brown. Nonetheless, he succeeded in getting the pumpkins delivered on time.
