Snow-packed and icy road conditions on Highway 385 south of Holyoke Wednesday morning, Nov. 16 led to a one-vehicle rollover that resulted in the death of Rosa Tranquilino, 45, of Wray.

At 9 a.m. Wednesday, Tranquilino was northbound on Highway 385, driving a 1996 Chevrolet Suburban when she lost control 13 miles south of Holyoke in Yuma County.

The vehicle rotated off the left shoulder and collided with an embankment, then rolled a half time onto its roof, according to Trooper J. Mack of the Colorado State Patrol.

Ernesto Tranquilino, 26, was a passenger in the vehicle with his mother at the time of the accident. Both were wearing seatbelts. The driver was trapped in the vehicle and extrication was required.

Both Rosa and Ernesto were transported to Wray Community Hospital by ambulance.

Rosa was flown to Loveland, where she died at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, according to the CSP report.
