Holyoke Chamber of Commerce held a meeting Tuesday, Nov. 15 to discuss tourism within Phillips County.
Trent Brotherton, Miles-Weaver travel media consultant, gave the program which concentrated on Colorado Tourism.
Brotherton spoke about the growing trend of agri-tourism, the Official Colorado Vacation Guide, the Colorado.com website and Colorado Welcome Centers.
Brotherton said the welcome center located in Julesburg is the second most visited center in Colorado. He mentioned it would be easy for travelers to swing down to Phillips County to see what there is before heading west to the interstate.
Brotherton noted Holyoke and Phillips County information isn’t located within their travel materials. He urged those present to think of what Phillips County has to offer. He also suggested a tourism committee could be beneficial to Holyoke and Phillips County.
Getting a committee together will be the first step in the process, Brotherton said.
Those interested or with questions may contact the chamber at holyokec@pctel com.coop.
Mary Tomky, executive director said they will most likely talk more about a committee at the Thursday, Dec. 8 meeting.
