A number of school events were canceled, postponed or delayed as a result of the April 4 snowstorm.
The HHS track team was scheduled to travel to Burlington Saturday. That event was rescheduled for April 23. Since Holyoke already has meets on April 21 and 24, the Dragons will not be attending the April 23 Burlington meet.
Tracksters were back on the road Tuesday, April 7, participating in the Yuma meet. The next scheduled meet is Thursday, April 16 at Wray.
On to the baseball field. The March 27 Yuma game will not be rescheduled, and the March 28 Merino contest will be played Monday, April 27 at 12 noon. The April 4 game at Haxtun was moved to Holyoke and played Tuesday, April 7. The April 6 JV triangular with Wray and Sedgwick County will not be rescheduled.
Junior high track meets have been set for Monday, April 20 at Sterling and Friday, April 24 at Akron.
While it was anticipated the snow would start to fall Friday, the Holyoke area didn’t see any until early Saturday morning, April 4. The wind picked up, and by evening, it was treacherous traveling. Areas west of Holyoke reported much worse traveling conditions.
The FCCLA chapter was delayed a day on their return from state convention in Denver, arriving about noon Sunday, April 5.
