Kids take stage for annual Christmas program PDF Print E-mail

Christmas wouldn’t be complete without the annual Elementary Christmas Program, and parents, grandparents and friends sure got a treat Thursday night, Dec. 8 when kindergarten, second-grade and fourth-grade students performed in the HHS auditorium.

Music teacher Marcia Dalton directed the program.

After a quick wave to their parents, kindergartners started off with “Mittens and Gloves,” Feliz Navidad! Joyeux Noel!” “Five Little Candles” and “When Santa Comes to our House.”

They followed up with other numbers including “Chubbly Little Snowman,” “Christmas Makes Me Sing,” “Reindeer Love to Boogie” and “Jingle Bells Variations.”

“Rock‘n’Roll Snowmen” kicked off the second-grade performance with some impressive guitar-playing snowmen, including Isaac Strauss, Theron Roll, José Astorga and Oscar Anguiano Mendoza.

Next up was “Glo-Glo-Glorious” and “Celebramos Juntos” with bell players Baylor Struckmeyer, Kailar Hayes, Aidyn Shafer and Alex Caraveo.

Special group members in “Christmas Comes from the Heart” included Mason Vernon, Levi Dille, Miles Sprague, Kristin Vieselmeyer, Allison Warren, Josie Schlachter, Cade Killin, Dakota Widler, Havyn Powell, Isaac Strauss, Joey Telck, Rachel Krueger, Diego Jimenez, Danielle Wilkening, Lauren Herman, Koby Way, Gage Sprague, Emmanuel Vasquez, Arelys Arteaga and Mia Secrist.

“Santa Mash-Up” featured second-graders Theron Roll, Marco Mendoza, Carlos Legarreta, Kenneth Lindholm, Johny Quintana, Wendy Favela, Mia Secrist, Tristen Ferguson and Trenton Hodge.

The second grade finished with “Red and Green” and “We Will Jingle.”

A special fourth-grade group sang “Do You Hear What I Hear” including vocalists Shianne Willmon, Victoria Race, Crystal Astorga Solis, Morganne Kumm, Hunter Bergstrom, Remington Hielscher, Luis Chafino, Fabian Gonzalez, Lauren Bergner, Jackie Valenzuela, Tayler Hale, Lali Marquez, Llely Ochoa, Makenzie Martin and Ally Bohlender.

For the evening’s finale, Holyoke fourth grade presented “Christmas at the O.K. Corral.”

All the people at the O.K. Corral near Snowy Gulch were really excited about Christmas, but their hopes were dashed when Bubble Bum Bart, the bad guy, played by Deacon Dittmer, threatened to cover everything in his bubble gum goo.

Luckily Candy Cane Kid, the good guy, played by Caleb Deaver, was called in to help save the day.

The chorus kicked off the play with “Christmas in the West.” “Bubble Bum Goo” included Deacon Dittmer on the chorus and Ally Bohlender and Makenzie Martin as soloists.

Chorus members sang “Sticky Situation,” and Caleb Deaver, the reindeer/townspeople soloists and the chorus sang “Tell Me.”

“Christmas is O.K.!” concluded the performance with small group vocalists, the chorus and square dancers.

Parts were played by Tristen Roll as Mayor Manly; Shianne Willmon, Mrs. Mayor; Lali Marquez, Molly Mayor; Emily Jelden, Betsy Bookworm the school marm; Blake Mosenteen, Pennywise the store clerk; Slaten Burris, Mac the Miner; Victoria Race, the ice cream saloon keeper Scoop; Mason King, the blacksmith Ironsides; Hunter Bergstrom, the barber Quickwhiskers; Josie Herman, Betty the baker; Nain Vasquez, Santa; Remington Hielscher, Lucky the elf; and Tayler Hale, Lucy the elf.

The Candy Cane Kid’s trusty reindeer included Victor Baeza, Ralph; Anthony Rojo, Rudy; Sarah Razo, Rowdy; Makayla Knutson, Reggie; Taeryn Trumper, Randee; Alondra Zapata, Rusty; Crystal Astorga Solis, Ruby; and Llely Ochoa, Rachel.

Townspeople were Angel Rojo Ramirez, Xander Speicher, Luis Chafino, Isaiah Hatton, Fabian Gonzalez, Wyett Martin, Lauren Bergner, Morganne Kumm, Alexis Vega Llanas, Miguel Soto, Lane Guthrie, Osirys Perez, Sabrina Zink, Kassidy Porter Yearout, Yamilet Kenner Najera, Janessa Lutze, Andrew Rivera and Kylie Brink.

Chorus members were Sergio Alarcon Ortega, Dalton Hysell, Michael Ramos, Jackie Valenzuela, Kevin Conde, Gabe Degroff, Eva Goytia, Logan Higgs, Matthew Oberle, Alondra Valles and Seth Watson.

Singers included Josie Herman, Makayla Knutson, Sarah Razo, Llely Ochoa, Crystal Astorga Solis, Taeryn Trumper, Ally Bohlender, Makenzie Martin and Alexis Vega Llanas.

Logan Higgs and Matthew Oberle were the square dance callers. Square dancers were Sarah Razo, Lane Guthrie, Makenzie Martin, Andrew Rivera, Ally Bohlender, Xander Speicher, Osirys Perez, Jackie Valenzuela, Llely Ochoa, Lauren Bergner, Kassidy Porter Yearout, Gabe Degroff, Fabian Gonzalez, Janessa Lutze, Tayler Hale and Alondra Valles.
