Aniela Finch has the friendly, new voice at The Holyoke Enterprise, having recently joined the local newspaper staff as receptionist.
In addition, Finch handles classified advertising and other tasks, as well.
Aniela (pronounced on-yell-a) and her husband Weston, who grew up in Holyoke, moved back in February from Washington State after Weston completed active duty with the U.S. Army. He continues in the National Guard.
Aniela grew up in Boulder, graduating from Fairview High School, and earned her bachelor’s degree in communications, with a minor in journalism from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley in 2005.
While she was a student at UNC, Finch was actively involved with Campus Crusade.
Aniela worked at Helzberg Diamonds in Loveland, and transferred to a Washington store when Weston was based at Fort Lewis, Wash. Aniela maintained their home base in Lacey, Wash. while Weston was sent overseas a number of times.
Born in Austria, Aniela’s heritage is Polish, Portuguese, Albanian and Scottish. Her father is a professor in the engineering department at CU in Boulder.
Having lived in Texas and then Colorado as a youngster, Aniela and her family returned to Austria for a couple of years when she was 7. They then moved back to Colorado.
From age 5 until she went to college, Aniela attended ballet classes, and she continues to enjoy dance. She also likes studying other cultures and traveling overseas.
She noted it’s a blessing to be in Holyoke and to spend time with family and friends. The community has been very welcoming, Aniela added.
