|Written by Brenda Johnson Brandt|
HHS wrestlers posted a 42-40 win in the Larry Stroh Memorial dual with Merino Thursday, Feb. 2 in Holyoke.
Coach Jack Garrison noted appreciation for the wrestling support from the Stroh family. No family members were present at last week’s dual as Bill Stroh (Larry and Duane’s dad) underwent open heart surgery in Aurora that day.
Senior wrestlers Mark Edmonds and Broc Pelle wore their yellow singlets in their last home matches of their high school wrestling careers. Fellow senior Parker Redfern is on the injured list, but was present for the Stroh Memorial dual.

Each team gave up four matches with no wrestler in those weight divisions. Holyoke was missing wrestlers in the lighter weights, while Merino’s team didn’t have heavier weight class wrestlers.
Of the six matches wrestled, Holyoke won three, all with pins; and Merino won three with two pins and a major decision.
Earning wins in their matches for the Dragons were Mark Edmonds at 132 lbs., Nick Ortner 138 and Broc Pelle 182.
