Jan Walter puts in her last hours at Family Practice of Holyoke March 30 as she retires after nearly 26 years of working at the clinic.

An organizational meeting will be held April 15 for a Parent Teacher Association for Holyoke grades K-12.

April 4, 2002

Mammography services will again be available for East Phillips County Hospital District starting May 29. Boulder Mammography Service will be in Holyoke two days each month to provide the service to area residents.

Astolfo “Peanut” Rojo, owner and operator of Rojo General Construction, recently announced he will be offering his construction services to the Holyoke community.

MMH will be receiving a state-of-the-art electrocardiograph machine from High Plains Research Network.

April 9, 1987

An early morning fire April 7 gutted the Knight and Son Home Decorating store at 115 S. Interocean Ave. and caused extensive damage to Scheunemanns Department Store on the north and Jack and Jill grocery store on the south.

Holyoke Centennial Commission has announced the opening of a centennial store and office April 24, when 100 citizens will be given the opportunity to receive membership certificates with a donation of $25, and many items will be offered in the store for Holyoke’s 100th birthday April 24, 1988.

April 6, 1972

Army sergeant Neal E. McCormick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis McCormick of Holyoke, recently received the air medal in Vietnam for meritorious service while participating in aerial flight in support of ground operations in Vietnam.

The committee for CROP for Phillips County has laid plans for a “Walk for Hunger,” set for Sunday afternoon, May 7.

Girls State delegates are Teri and Jeri Oltjenbruns.

April 5, 1962

Emma Briggs of Holyoke, mail carrier between Holyoke and Imperial, nears the 20-year mark as a mail carrier.

Gary Hagemann, Holyoke High School senior, has been named to the all-conference basketball team by the coaches of the seven-school northeastern conference.
