Sarah Northup of Sterling visited Holyoke Elementary School Tuesday, April 3 to speak about her recent six-month trip to Estonia and Switzerland. Northup, a senior at Colorado State University, visited the two countries last fall as part of 4-H’s International 4-H Youth Exchange (IFYE) program and spoke to students about her experiences. Students in grades 3-5 attended the presentation by Northup, which was well received by the kids.
Northup had a slide show full of photographs, videos and information. She told the students that countries all over the world are different from the United States. “It’s not weird, it’s different,” she told the kids.
Northup explained how the idea behind IFYE is to experience a cultural exchange and promote peace through understanding. Before arriving in Holyoke Tuesday afternoon, she spoke to students in Haxtun. —Enterprise photo
