Seventh grade students in Nancy Dee’s Junior Achievement (JA) class are focusing on economics this year, and receiving outside help from a local business volunteer.
Over the last few weeks Sonia Hubbard, owner of New York Life Insurance, has been presenting lessons to the class as part of the JA Economics for Success Program. It explores personal finance and students’ education and career options based on their skills, interests and values.
JA is a nonprofit organization financed by businesses, foundations, government and individuals. Its purpose is to inspire young people to value free enterprise, business and economics to improve the quality of their lives.
It uses hands-on experiences to help young people understand the economics of life. In partnership with businesses and educators, JA brings the real world to students.
