| PIE awards grants to seven teachers |

Seven Holyoke teachers received grants from the local Partners in Education (PIE) group, as announced at the teacher appreciation breakfast hosted by PIE Friday morning, May 4. A total of $3,000 was raised by PIE at the March 16 Carnival for Classrooms. Fifteen grant applications were received, and seven grants were awarded. The group presented one $1,000 grant, two for $500 and four for $250. Recipients are pictured from left, Christina Martinez, Marcia Dalton, Theresa Tharp, Stefan Betley, Scott Dille, Kelsey Reimink and Laura Loutensock. The awards were presented as follows: Loutensock, $1,000, software for computers in the Elementary School computer lab; Betley, $500, iPad for Spanish department; Reimink, $500, iPad for science department; Dille, $250, portable units to transport playground equipment; Tharp, $250, dry erase boards for students; Dalton, $250, rug for the music room; Martinez, $250, clay roller.
